Are Stress And Anxiety Dictating The Way You Live?

Do you have a hard time relaxing or feeling at ease—even in ordinary situations around those you trust? Are you always on edge, mentally rehearsing worst-case scenarios or fending off negative thoughts that come out of nowhere?

Perhaps you find mundane tasks like driving a car or going into public so overwhelming that you’ve begun to neglect small but important aspects of your life. Or maybe you constantly feel exhausted from putting on a good face and powering through the stress and fear for your career or relationships—but it’s just getting to be too much.

If you are dealing with anxiety on any level, it can have a powerful impact on your life. You may have difficulty sleeping and wake up lacking the energy or motivation to start the day. Worrisome thoughts about the challenges you’ll have to face begin to churn as you mechanically leave the house.

It’s likely that you can’t concentrate at work because all of your attention is laser-beam focused on fighting a steady undercurrent of fear and self-doubt. And a deep sense of dread is probably slowly making your world smaller as you increasingly avoid anything that might trigger anxiety symptoms or a panic attack. At this point, it probably feels like nothing can change—but there is hope.

At Insideout Living, we can show you how to reclaim your life from stress and anxiety so you can live with greater confidence and peace. Whether you are struggling to navigate the stresses of your daily routine or living with symptoms of an anxiety disorder, we would be honored to help you find relief.

Anxiety Is Becoming Increasingly Prevalent Throughout Our Culture

If a clinical anxiety disorder is disrupting your life, you are not alone. According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA), over 40 million adults suffer from some form of anxiety—making it the most common mental health concern in the US. Not even children are immune to these statistics with over 25 percent of kids between the ages of 13 and 18 reporting symptoms of anxiety.*

There are so many factors that determine what causes or contributes to anxiety. Family history, a person’s brain chemistry, or exposure to certain stressors can play a part in the onset of anxiety. And a difficult life transition, loss, or a traumatic experience can plant seeds for anxiety to grow.

Moreover, cultural messages embedded in social media, advertising, and movies make people second-guess their value and self-worth. That means a lot of people are constantly worrying about whether or not they are beautiful enough, successful enough, or wealthy enough—and how they measure up to everyone else. Even the loss and uncertainty created by the pandemic have fueled anxiety, so there is a strong reason for its prevalence in our culture.

Unfortunately, many people see their stress and anxiety as a normal part of life that is unavoidable. However, with the help of a kind and compassionate anxiety counselor, you can learn to acknowledge your self-worth and find practical ways to stop worrying and start living.

Anxiety Treatment Empowers You To Live On Your Own Terms

Most people who are dealing with anxiety have had at least one person diminish their experience with statements like, “It’s all in your head,” or “Relax, you’ll live longer.” But working with an anxiety therapist means having an ally who truly understands what you are going through.

Therapy gives you a safe space in which you can share your story, discover the roots of your pain, and take concrete steps toward overcoming anxiety. Whether you prefer individual in-person sessions or group counseling online, we offer flexible anxiety treatment options designed to make you feel safe, validated, and understood.

After a brief phone consultation, we’ll begin with an initial 90-minute assessment that allows us to get a solid understanding of what you’re going through. We’ll look at the nature of your anxiety symptoms, how they are affecting your daily life, and what you hope to achieve from therapy. Using the information from that assessment, we can then develop a treatment plan and introduce you to one of our anxiety support groups if that’s your preference.

At Insideout Living, we take an “iceberg” approach to treating anxiety. That means rather than merely addressing symptoms, we want to get below the surface and identify, understand, and treat any underlying factors. To do that, we offer a number of anxiety treatment options, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and Somatic Therapy.

CBT allows us to spot negative thought patterns developed in the past that may be influencing how you think and act and feel now. EMDR is particularly helpful for minimizing the impact of any distressing memories related to a traumatic event that may be driving anxiety. And Somatic Therapy helps us identify where stress and anxiety get trapped in the body so you can release that energy.

We also draw upon aspects of Experiential Therapy, incorporating music, art, writing, role-play, dance, and yoga to create a comprehensive and holistic healing strategy that speaks to you. Throughout sessions, we’ll make sure to equip you with powerful mindfulness, breathing, and grounding techniques that help you reduce stress and manage anxiety both inside and outside of sessions.

Anxiety has a way of slowly making your world smaller and robbing you of opportunities for happiness and even success. But you don’t have to struggle on your own. At Insideout Living, we can help you develop the skills, self-awareness, and confidence needed to free yourself from anxiety and begin living on your own terms. With our help, you can feel less stressed, more relaxed, and completely capable of handling whatever life throws at you.

Perhaps you are considering anxiety treatment but still have some concerns…

I’m worried that counseling will make my anxiety worse.

Facing your fears is never easy, but the powerful thing about therapy is that it gives you a space to contain that pain so it’s no longer overwhelming. Our therapists are all trained to minimize your experience with anxiety no matter how severe. We also offer a diverse range of anxiety treatment options that enables us to tackle anxiety from many different angles, so there’s always a workaround should anything become too intense. That being said, we’ll always move at a pace that feels comfortable and safe for you.

Between work and everything else, I don’t know if I can make the time for anxiety counseling.

Time is a concern for many of our clients, which is why we offer all of our individual and group therapy sessions for anxiety online. It eliminates the need to travel, take time off from work, or find a sitter for the kids. And it’s just as effective as traditional in-person sessions. Moreover, because therapy works best when people feel safe and at ease, online anxiety counseling can actually facilitate the healing process because it meets clients wherever they feel most comfortable.

Do I have to join a support group for anxiety, or can I just do individual treatment sessions?

Ultimately, we would love to see you in a group because that is where the true healing happens. Though it may sound intimidating at first, working in a group setting helps normalize what you are going through and it gives you an incredible system of communal support that individual sessions cannot provide. However, we understand that each person has their own experience with anxiety, so we’ll always respect your needs for therapy and what you want the healing process to look like.
